Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for committing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
