Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
