Previous BBC Specialists Undergo MPs' Questioning After Allegations of Partiality in Leaked Document
We start with questions from Conservative MP the committee chair, who oversees the panel.
She initiates by providing background to the disclosed document authored by Michael Prescott and printed in a daily publication.
"It is not my wish for the BBC slanting this way or that way, My only wish is for it straight, impartial and equitable," he says.
In response to a query if he thinks the BBC is systematically partial, Prescott responds: "No I don't. Let's be clear, numerous aspects the BBC produces is exceptional - encompassing factual and entertainment content."
However, he continues: "There exists substantial tasks that requires attention at the BBC."
A further former external BBC specialist examined by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she views the BBC with great importance and that it maintains a "persistent practice and lively discussion" across evolving and intricate topics.
"Whether the BBC was prepared to have a thorough discussion and debate and act accordingly?" she reflects. "In my view, indeed, they were."
