US actor Pat Finn, who featured in beloved TV shows including "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA recently following treatment for cancer since 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones said in a message.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Notable TV Career

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of well-known programs, including:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
