Both have been linked with the manager's job at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's resignation on the start of the week.

The Manager's Stance on Celtic

McKenna described Celtic as "an enormous football club" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and guided the team to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they won just four games last season as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in the Championship.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the English capital native former Irish youth international said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is currently.

"I have a unique job here at a special team. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything external hasn't touched my radar."

Context and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his boyhood allegiances.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about these. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and announce what they were, but naturally it's a really big sports organization."

The coach signed a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he responded. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I'll be Town's coach forever. I understand that's not always going to be the situation, but I'll always give maximum effort as while I am here."

Bellamy's Position

Bellamy represented Celtic on temporary transfer from the Magpies in 2005, but the former Wales striker is minded to finish the ongoing World Cup campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are presently third in their qualifying group behind leaders the Red Devils and runners-up North Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and their rivals in next month would book their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful European competition campaign, even if they not end up their group second place.

Given his present position, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
